    2. Finally made it through, found it a bit of a slog sorry. It felt like someone's dream translated to paper - as if over many twilight moments the author had got lost in the detail of an indulgent dream rather than a crafted story. 3. A standard time-travel story about alteration of the timeline, starting in medieval England. Uses parallel universes to deal with paradoxes. Does a very good job of establishing believable historical settings and events. If you want a detailed, blow-by-blow account of the effort, including lists of personnel and equipage, then this is the place to go.
